Abstract: The word shape of wei(为) isn’t like monkey but like leading an elephant with one’s hand.There have been used wei(为) to expressing monkey in the old literatures,but they should be looked as Jia Jie(假借),their proper words are wei(蜼).Explaining wei(为)as monkey in Shuo Wen(说文),they showed the Jia Jie(假借) usage of wei(为) in the old literatures in fact.
