Abstract: The theme of Between the Acts,the last novel by Virginia Woolf,is analyzed in light of Jacques Lacan’s mirror image theory.The mirror image stage is important in the self-formation of the individuals,as well as the collectives.The writer switches her focus on the existential space of female individual to the civilization process of the whole human being,which embodies her exploration into the human existence and philosophical reflections on the human history.
