Abstract: This paper mainly deals with the introduction of western literary theories into Modern China during the May Fourth Movement period and in the 1930s,by stating its basis and significance in the history of modern Chinese literary criticism,sorting out and analyzing its research status,and putting forward the possible thoughts and methods for further studies,in order to attract great attention in academic circles.
