Abstract: This paper attempts to make use of domain matrix in metonymy to interpret the lexicalization of S+V phrase in both English and Chinese.By resorting to corpus data and focusing on the nominalisation of S+V phrase,the paper tries to provide a reasonable interpretation of the lexicalization of S+V phrase.It finds that during the nominalisation of S+V phase,its grammaticalization helps the lexicalization and the metonymy can explain the shift of its function,and there are not only single,but also double metonym...
