Abstract: The paper mainly expounds that when we study Chinese words,we should properly deal with both the relationship between the theory of western philology and the practice of Chinese philology and the relationship between modern Chinese philological theory and the legacy of traditional Chinese philology,so that we can promote the improvement of the research on Chinese philology.
