Abstract: The paper first discusses the basic ideas of Prototype-Model Theory and then states that Prototype-Model Theory provides a new perspective to linguistic research.At last,it analyzes the objective applications of Prototype-Model Theory in linguistic research from the study of sounds and spelling,words,grammar and rhetoric as well as the contrastive study and translation between languages.
