英汉时间概念隐喻中的方向对比

Orientation in the Temporal Conceptual Metaphors in English and Chinese

摘要: 时间是抽象概念,对时间概念的认知与理解要借助于时间概念隐喻。文化不同,有关时间的概念隐喻不尽相同;即使时间概念隐喻相同,和这些概念隐喻相对应的语言表达也会有差异。英汉文化中均有“时间是一运动的物体”、“时间是我们从中穿过的空间”的概念隐喻,相对应的语言表达却不尽相同。通过语言表达的对比分析发现,在时间的取向方面,英美人主要是面向未来,而中国人既面向未来,又面向过去。

Abstract: As TIME is an abstract concept,we understand it in terms of temporal conceptual metaphors.Even the temporal conceptual metaphors are the same,the according linguistic expressions are not the same.TIME IS A MOVING OBJECT and TIME IS STATIONARY AND WE GO THROUGH IT are two conceptual metaphors existing in both Chinese culture and Anglo-Saxon and American culture.But the linguistic expressions in Chinese are not the same with that in English.The analysis of the expressions shows that the Chinese are both past-...
