Abstract: In order to achieve a successful communication,people should follow two basic principles.the cooperative principle and politeness principle,which is the same for both Chinese and English.But because of the influence of different cultures,Chinese people put more emphasis on the politeness principle while English people pay more attention to the cooperative,which,therefore,leads to the misunderstanding even failure in the communication between them.
