Abstract: In general,borrowing and cognate are different concepts.It does not exist cognate relations between original meaning and borrowing meaning,between original character and borrowing character.Through reviewing words,sound and meaning from the angle of human cognition,through comparing character and word,the article thinks that there are crossing relations between the two conceptions,entities and they are not opposite absolutely,although they are not in the same category.But the relation is not inevitable.
