Abstract: After a complete investigation of jinpingmeicihua《金瓶梅词话》, 213 material unit words were collected, divided into three kinds, namely, single, collective and compound. This paper presents a panoramic description and exploration of them from syllable, word formation, meaning representation, origin compounding ability and grammatical function, and points out its inheriting function between ancient and modern Chinese.
