Abstract: In depicting the character of Macbeth ,Shakespear did not attempt to follow the tragic mode,but he had done according to the truthfulness of life. As the murder of the king and a usurper, the destruction of Macbeth has its tragic aspects. His tragedy is a personality tragedy as well as a social tragedy. The tragic process of his destruction reveals the eternal straits of main soul, which has its depth and persistency. The character of Macbeth means the value of eternity.
