Abstract: The structure of "X yu fou"(与否) existed long-time. With the development of language, "yu fou"(与否) in this structure has a strong tendency to be merged into a single auxiliary. This paper tries to depict the syntactical function and textual cohesive function of "yu fou"(与否) , and explain the cause why it gradually becomes a relative auxiliary in view of grammar.
