Abstract: Two reasons drived the development of Marcuse's thought. One was the pursuance to the essence of human being and the ways of human liberation; another was the attention to social reality, which made him go toward "Rationality" of Hegel and "Aros" of Freud from "Labor" of Marx, and formed at last his humanism characterized by the combination of rationalism and irrationalism.
