Abstract: Based on the same political philosophy, MAO Ze dong and DENG Xiao ping have made great efforts to explore the relationship between the central and local in China. Differences, including their considered angles, approaches, ways and effects in dealing with this problem, as well as the different historical backgrounds, do form two different stages about thoughts and practice on the relationship between the central and local.
