Abstract:
Based on the three factors of productivity and employing the entropy weight Topsis method, this paper measures the level of new quality productive forces in 279 Chinese cities, analyzes their spatial disparities, and constructs a progress index of new quality productive forces for quadrant analysis. The findings are as follows:(1) The overall new quality productive forces show a slow upward trend. The level of new quality productive forces in the eastern region is significantly higher than that in the central region, followed by the western region, with the northeastern region being the lowest.(2) The decomposition of disparities among sample cities using the Dagum Gini coefficient reveals that regional disparities in new quality productive forces are relatively pronounced and show a widening trend. After 2022, the primary source of regional disparities is inter-regional differences.(3) A comparative analysis of the new quality productive forces index and the progress index shows that in 2023, the dynamic progress of new quality productive forces across cities is higher than the static level of new quality productive forces.
