Abstract:
Rationally examining and scientifically defining the “boundaries” in the international communication of Chinese culture is an inherent requirement for safeguarding cultural subjectivity and security. General Secretary Xi Jinping has emphasized strengthening theoretical research on international communication, grasping its laws, and providing academic support for international communication efforts. In the context of the new era, the “boundaries” of Chinese culture's international communication are manifested in three forms: value boundaries, discourse boundaries, and communication boundaries, demonstrating three prominent characteristics: “creeping,” “co-creativity,” and “merging generation”. At the same time, the strategic guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, the systematic building of national communication capabilities, and the profound nourishment of Chinese civilization jointly constitute the core practical tensions driving the evolution of the “boundaries” and the manifestation of their characteristics in the international communication of Chinese culture in the new era. Deeply grasping the dimensions, characteristics, and tensions of “boundaries” is a necessary requirement for understanding the laws of the international communication of Chinese culture. It can not only provide theoretical support for safeguarding Chinese cultural security but also point the way for building an open, inclusive, balanced, and effective Chinese narrative system, thereby enhancing the appeal and influence of Chinese culture and China's participation in global governance.
