Abstract:
With the acceleration of China's urbanization, rural youth living in cities are experiencing many growth dilemmas, which has become an important issue to be concerned during the transition period of Chinese path to modernization. In The Story of Xijing, CHEN Yan depicts the survival experience of two siblings, Luo Jiaxiu and Luo Jiacheng, who entered the city from the countryside, reflecting the social space compression, psychological space conflict, and cultural space collision faced by rural youth in the urban-rural binary situation. He reveals the multiple difficulties encountered by rural youth in the process of urbanization and tentatively proposes possible paths to overcome these difficulties. In depth analysis of the growth difficulties of rural youth in the process of urbanization can provide literary references and inspirations for this group to solve their practical difficulties.
