Abstract:
To explore the relationships between gratitude, belief in a just world and academic engagement among impoverished undergraduates with financial aid,a sample of 767 college students who received National Grants from Henan and Hubei provinces was surveyed with Gratitude Questionnaire-6, Belief in a Just World Scale, and Utrecht Work Engagement Scale-Student. The results found that:(1) Correlation analysis showed that gratitude, belief in a just world, and academic engagement were positively related to each other;(2) Mediation modeling indicated that belief in a just world mediated the relationship between gratitude and academic engagement. The results show that gratitude not only directly affects academic engagement, but also indirectly affected it through the mediator of belief in a just world.
