Abstract: N_oV attributive structure is a rapidly developing phrase type in Chinese. Based on the theory of typology nominalization, the function and meaning of the N_oV attributive structure is reanalyzed. It belongs to the type of incorporating from the perspective of typology research. As a specialized structure in Chinese which only refers to an activity, its structural meaning is “referring to a highly institutional activity”. The development of the structure is the concrete embodiment of the shift of modern Chinese from the emphasis on meaning to the emphasis on formal signs.
