Abstract:
The Unnamed Celebrated Four refers to revolutionary literature translators Wei Suyuan, Li Jiye, Wei Congwu and Tai Jingnong from Huoqiu county, Anhui Province. They were the backbone of the Unnamed Literary Agency established in the wake of the May 4th movement. Guided by Lu Xun's revolutionary thoughts, the Unnamed Celebrated Four translated and published a host of progressive literary works from the Soviet Union and east Europe, which not only provide works, but also artistic skills and patterns for the birth of the new Chinese Literature. The Unnamed Celebrated Four's revolutionary literature translation inherited LU Xun's special literary ideas and cultural characteristics, and occupies an important position in the history of modern Chinese literature. LU Xun's influence over the Unnamed Celebrated Four's revolutionary translation are threefold:1) clear ideological inclination and firm political orientation; 2) serious style of writing featuring a mistake-correcting disposition; 3) cultural inheritance spirit with special care for promoting and cultivating the younger generation.
