Abstract: The word "jiu就" is often pronounced as "dou斗təu⁵¹" in the current dialect of Shangcheng county. Based on field research, it was found that the original form of "dou斗təu⁵¹" in Shangcheng dialect is "jiu就" and is also a modern relic of this dialect's literary and colloquial reading. The ancient pronunciation and its evolutionary observation of "jiu就" and "dou斗təu⁵¹" along with the comparative meaning and corresponding connection of textual research on Putonghua "jiu就" and Shangcheng dialect "dou斗təu⁵¹" in various contemporary contexts can further confirm that "jiu就" is the original form of "dou斗təu⁵¹".
