Abstract:
The objectives of this study are to explore the effect of positive parenting style on life satisfaction of university students, and to test the mediating of positive coping style and defensive style. The methods applied are as following:to investigate the relationships between Parenting Rearing Styles, Coping Style, Defense Style and Life Satisfaction, a sample of 1067 college students was tested by parental rearing patterns questionnaire (EBMU), coping style questionnaire (CSQ), the defense style questionnaire (DSQ), and the Satisfaction with Life Scale A (LSIA) in a university in Heilongjiang Province. The study comes to such results:(1) There are significant correlation between positive parenting style, positive coping style, defensive style and life satisfaction of college students; (2) Positive parenting significantly and positively predicts life satisfaction; and (3) Positive coping style and the intermediate defense mechanism or immature defense mechanism played a parallel mediating effect between positive rearing patterns and life satisfaction. The results show that positive rearing patterns not only a direct role in college students' life satisfaction, but also indirectly affects their life satisfaction through positive coping style and defensive style.
