Abstract:
Akutagawa Ryunosuke's short story DU Zichun is based on the Chinese Tang Dynasty legend DU Zichun Biography which adds the author's own imagination and makes it different from the original character and plots. The protagonist DU Zichun's mental state is constantly changing with the development of the story, and the strong struggle of the three personalities of id, ego and superego in psychoanalysis is fully reflected in him. DU Zichun was initially driven by the "id" in the pursuit of money and magic. In the process of being immortal, his "ego" was once depressed by "id" and even completely "dead". When he saw his mother suffering, his "superego" personality began to awake and unite the struggle with "ego" to overcome the "id". Ultimately he became a real "person", though he was not immortal.
