Abstract: As a fundamental word in modern Chinese, the metaphorical meanings of Shai (sun bathing) do not only reflect the advantages of radiation meaning, with its extension meaning directly pointing towards the primary meaning of Shai, also make full use of concatenation, which strengthens the close connection among diverse extension meanings. The disparate meanings of Shai can be incorporated into a unified semantic framework just because there are differences among them, while they also show a certain degree of similarities. The similarities can be analyzed through the cactus model, which shows the novel features of semantic chain.
