Abstract:
Heart of Darkness, Conrad's masterpiece, is not only a classic post-colonial novel, but also a model of ecological literary work. By narrating what Marlow saw and heard in his trip to Congo, Conrad does not only point out that the crazy plundering and destruction of Africa by the European colonists are the causes to the local natural, social and spiritual ecological crises, but also indicate that the only way to dissolve the crises and get salvation is to study the oriental ecological wisdom, respecting the nature, loving human being and restraining desire.
