Abstract: In the process of China's transition from tradition to modernity, the emancipation of women and the construction of a modern national state have become a set of closely related proposition of the times. The female image and its construction of rural novels Shiqinian (17 Years) actually is an authentic depiction of the profound transformation of female identity under the modern national state discourse. Extensive political support and social mobilization for gender equality within the framework of modern nation-state construction, but that's exactly a realistic correspondence of the image construction of "new subjects" and "new spirits".
