Liu Yong’s Inheritance of Jiu Bian (Nine Identified) by Song Yu

  • It has long been known that Song Yu's Jiu Bian started the theme of feeling sad with the coming of autumn in Chinese literature with a prevasive influence. In Liu Yong's Yue Zhang Ji, it is quite often to see that he views himself as Song Yu. In his writings, he does not only quote directly or indirectly the sentences by Song Yu, but also repeatedly refers to Song Yu's anecdotes. His lyrics about travelling and laboring especially inherit Song Yu's theme. Liu yong's literary works imitate and inherit Song Yu's Jiu Bian mainly in the following aspects such as the creative spirit, the ideological connotation and the artistic technique and so on.
