The Qualitative Construction of Cohesion Model in Group Counseling
-
Abstract
Cohesion is a key factor in the group counseling process. This research collected data by open questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews in order to explore the structure of cohesion in group counseling, then analyzed the data by qualitative research methods. The result shows that there are three dimensions of cohesion in group counseling, including emotional dimension-intimacy, cognitive dimension-identity, and behavioral dimension-engagement. Furthermore, the result from quantitative analysis of codes shows that the number of codes in group leaders text is more than that in group members, which illustrates group experience is related with cohesion perception. These establish the foundation of further quantitative exploration for cohesion in group counseling.
