Evolvement on Female Writing in Li Peifu’s Novels Based on “Plain Trilogy”

  • “Plain Trilogy”, created by LI Peifu from Henan, are the male texts taking the male characters as the core. In the works, women are sketchily described. As supporting roles of the novels, women are described by the male author to push the plot of the novel or to set off the master image, but their image shaping is equally impressive. In “Plain Trilogy”, the image construction of women has undergone three stages which are the complete annihilation of self-awareness, the awakening of self-awareness, and active construction of self-awareness. The shaping of the image is being pushed by cultural choice, determined by the author’s own identity, life experience, and the tide of the times. At the same time, it is the product of the creative psychological transition of the author and the changes of the times. The evolvement of women’s writing reflects LI Peifu’s observation of women’s survival state and the in-depth thinking of women’s destiny during the period of social transformation, which realizes the unity of thought and art.
