The Syntactic Mechanism of Sequential Iconicity in the Formation of Run-on Sentences

  • Based on the principle of sequential iconicity of language and the analysis of many examples, and from the perspective of linguistic typology, this paper finds that the modifiers such as attributes and adverbials in Chinese can be freely converted into parallel clauses without adding any grammatical markers, and be promoted from the position of modifiers to the predicate structure juxtaposed with the main sentence, which is the internal mechanism and the formation of Chinese run-on sentences.
