Two Types of Rhetorical Classification Constructions Based on Contrasting Highlights and Similarity Emphasis

  • In network languages, the conventional grammatical constructs used for expressive classification have been mutated, from which two unconventional rhetorical constructs with specific expressive effects have been derived. The way of presentation of these two configurations are anti-logical, and the criteria of classification is subjective. Even the communicative intent is evaluative.About these two emerging rhetorical constructions, one is to highlight the difference of items from one category through contrast, and the other is to emphasize the ubiquitousness of all members through the consistency of items. Pragmatically, they convey exceptionally rich content in a seemingly simple form through the way of old bottles of new wine, creating expressions that are both familiar and unfamiliar, contradictory and interesting.
