WEI Zheng's Praise to the Five Emperors and Their Political Ideals

  • The poems and compositions of Wei Zheng were filled with respect for the Ancient Saints. WEI Zheng praised the Five Emperors and praised TANG Tai zong, and it also embodied his persistent pursuit of peaceful prosperity. The 20 pieces of his Five Suburbs Movement praised the Five Emperors of Huang, Qing, Chi, Bai and Hei respectively according to the five tones of Palace, Horn, Shang, Zhi and Feather. It embodied the characteristics of sacrificing the Gods of the Five Emperors in conformity with the spirit of heaven and earth and the purpose of praying for "respect and love within the four seas". He sang poems with TANG Tai zong in praise of the Emperor Huang and other saintly monarchs, and also contained deep expectations for Tang Tai-zong. With Three Emperors and Five Emperors as the highest standard of emperors, he set an example for TANG Tai zong and criticized his gains and losses in governing. The political ideal of WEI Zheng is to expect TANG Tai zong and his ministers to work hard to govern, and to meet sages and sages to create prosperous peace until they surpass the Ancient Saints and become teachers for future generations.
