A Strategic Analysis of Chinese Discourse in English Translation of Romuth's Romance of the Three Kingdoms

  • In the process of translating Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Romuth broke the strong discourse in the western literary translation and boldly adopted the literal translation method to realize the Chinese language in the aspects of language, literature and culture. At the same time, he made use of effective Chinese discourse communication strategies such as publishing and propaganda, context adaptation, etc., which made the translation obtain good communication and acceptance effect overseas. The Enlightenment of Romuth's translation of Romance of the Three Kingdoms to the current translation and external communication of ancient books is that we should comprehensively adopt various speaking strategies and effective communication strategies, strive for the discourse power of the original language, display the characteristics of Chinese discourse, tell Chinese stories, make the translation obtain the best communication and acceptance effect overseas, and further promote the Chinese ancient culture to the world.
