The Rise of Female Writers and “Central Plains Experience” in Contemporary Literature

  • The rise of female writers is a new phenomenon in Henan's literary circles. Female writers represented by Shao Li and Qiao Ye initially boldly wrote female emotional experience, accepted the influence of post-modernity atmosphere, questioned the grand narrative dominated by male writers, provided a new face for Henan literature and impacted the "Central Plains Experience" which is good at expressing local suffering and criticizing rural power in contemporary literature. In the process of maturity, female writers gradually get rid of the one-dimensional expression of female consciousness, have a deep understanding of the complexity of social history, and begin to face the reality of the Central Plains in the process of urbanization transformation. They have created works with strong social concern, deep life observation and broad emotional orientation which are powerful and abundant. It is rich in the "Central Plains Experience" in contemporary literature.
