The Space Concept of Confucius' “Great Unity” Thought

  • Confucius' idea of "great unification" has a long history. It is the summary and refinement of the "three generations" for the existence of astronomical and geographical environment, political system and cultural model. In the face of the collapse of the Spring and Autumn Period and the decline of kingship, the basic connotation of Confucius' "great unity" was expressed as the desire for the unification of geographical territory and that of kingship in the Spring and Autumn Period, and thus the unity of social culture was constructed. This became the beginning of the great unification of the spring and autumn school, and was also the highest ideal for the Chinese people to pursue national unity since the Qin and Han Dynasties, and became an important ideological motive and emotional bond to maintain the development of the Chinese nation.
