College Students' Self-compassion and Subjective Well-being: the Mediating Role of Belief in Just World

  • To investigate the mediating role of belief in just world in the relationship between self-compassion and subjective well-being among college students, 794 students were investigated through the Questionnaire of Undergraduate Students' Self-compassion, Just World Scale for College Students, Satisfaction with Life Scale, and Positive and Negative Affect Scale. Results showed that:(1) Girls' life satisfaction and positive affect were both higher than that of the boys; Senior students' negative affect was most intense.(2) Self-compassion were significantly positively correlated with belief in just world, and both of them were positively correlated with life satisfaction and positive affect, and negatively with negative affect.(3) Belief in just world played a partial role in mediating self-compassion and subjective well-being among college students.
