Abstract: The earliest and complete biographical work about LU Xun in the world is LU Xun Zhuan (A Biography of LU Xun), which is based on LU Xun's personal statement, written by Wataru Masuda, reviewed and revised by LU Xun himself. This work has been translated into Chinese, and there are three versions. Through ages, there are printing, historical, and translation errors in these versions. This essay researches into the three Chinese versions, and takes Wataru Masuda's manuscript as a reference which is collected in the Masuda Library of Kansai University Library, Japan. Moreover, it provides a new clue for the research of LU Xun. From the perspective of translation study, the purpose of this research is to introduce overseas' excellent works about LU Xun studies to the domestic. It also provides a new reference for the improvement of the Chinese translation of LU Xun Zhuan by Wataru Masuda. However, from the perspective of historical study, this research can make the existence of the original manuscript of LU Xun Zhuan with traces of LU Xun's own revisions, in order to make full use of this precious historical material.
